Pavel Novel

Marketing / media / an occasional contraption

I follow my
obsessions.
And make things.

I think about marketing, build systems, and make things I want to exist. Writing, media, and technology tend to get tangled up along the way.

A few things I’m working on

01 / Out in the world

Selected work

Different forms. The same curiosity about what can be made.

Media · New YorkCurrent focus

Spoiled NYC

A New York food and culture publication I founded. I’m working on its next chapter: stories, discoveries, and ways for writers and creators to take part.

A major expression of the work, not just a line in the résumé.

Last Glances

A guide to temporary public art in New York. A map, the works, and their scheduled endings: a reason to go see something before it is gone.

Culture, dates, and a little urgency.

02 / Thinking in public

Writing & questions

03 / At the workbench

The laboratory

Some tools support the work. Some begin as “wouldn’t it be interesting if…”

Focus Desk

A personal Mac desk utility. A small exploration of what happens when software reaches out into the room.

Personal utility

Needlepick

Marketing intelligence: connecting brand discovery, competitors, and signals from the market. Part of the machinery behind how I think about marketing.

Ongoing work

Workie Talkie

Voice-first AI collaboration through persistent audio rooms. An exploration of working with a computer without spending the whole time typing at it.

A little background

Pavel Novel.
Pavel Konoplenko, too.

I’ve spent fifteen years in marketing: as an agency founder, media operator, in-house marketing lead, and consultant. I founded spoiled NYC and currently work in growth and AI marketing at NetBox Labs.

I write about marketing, business, and philosophy. I like making something concrete out of an idea, then seeing what it teaches me.

Also open to talks, podcasts, and conversations about the work.

Follow the things I’m making, the thoughts behind them, and the occasional detour. If you’re bringing an idea of your own to life, I’d like to hear about it.
